BRINDABAN , a See also:

town of See also:British See also:India, in the See also:Muttra See also:district of the See also:United Provinces, on the right See also:bank of the See also:Jumna, 6 m. N. of Muttra. Pop. (1901) 22,7 17. Brindaban is one of the most popular places of See also:pilgrimage in India, being associated with the cult of See also:Krishna as a shepherd. It contains bathing-stairs, tanks and See also:wells, and a See also:great number of handsome temples, of which the finest is that of Govind See also:Deva, a cruciform vaulted See also:building of red See also:sandstone, dating from r 590. The town was founded earlier in the same See also:century.
