CARNOUSTIE , a See also:

police See also:burgh and watering-See also:place of See also:Forfar-See also:shire, See also:Scotland. Pop. (1901) 5204. It lies on the See also:North See also:Sea, Io4 m. E.N.E. of See also:Dundee by the North See also:British railway. Bathing and golfing are See also:good. See also:Barry Links, a triangular sandy track occupying the See also:south-eastern corner of the shire, are used as a camping and manoeuvring ground for the See also:artillery and See also:infantry forces of the See also:district, and occasionally of Scotland. Its most extreme point is called Buddon Ness, off which are the dangerous shoals locally known as the Roaring See also:Lion, in consequence of the deep See also:boom of the waves. On the Ness two lighthouses have been built at different levels, the See also:lights of which are visible at 13 and 16 m.
