(1890) 368o; (1900) 5721 (273 See also:foreign-See also:born); (1910) 11,084. It is served by the Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia & See also:Reading See also:railways, and interurban electric lines. For its See also:size the borough ranks high as a manufacturing centre, See also:iron and See also:steel See also:works, See also:boiler works, See also:brass works, and See also:paper, See also:silk and woollen See also:mills being among its leading establishments. Its See also:water-works are owned and operated by the See also:municipality. Named in See also:honour of See also:Jesse Coates, one of its See also:early settlers, it was settled about 1800, and was incorporated in 1867.
