FORUM CLODII , a See also:post station on the Via See also:Clodia, about 23 M. N.W. of See also:Rome (not 32 M. as in the Antonine Itinerary), situated above the western See also:bank of the Lacus Sabatinus (mod. See also:Lake of See also:Bracciano), and connected with the Via See also:Cassia at Vacanae by a See also:branch road which ran See also:round the N. See also:side of the lake (See also:Ann. Inst., 1859, 43). The site is marked by the See also:church of SS. See also:Marcus, See also:Marcianus and Liberatus, which was founded in the 8th or 9th See also:century A.D. See also:Inscriptions mentioning the Foro-Clodienses have come to See also:light on the spot; and an inscription of the Augustan See also:period, which probably stood over the See also:door of a See also:villa, calls the See also:place Pausilypon—a name justified by the beauty of the site. See Notizie degli scavi (1889), 5; D. Vaglieri, ibid. (1895), 342. FORUM TRAIANI (mod. Fordongianus), an See also:ancient See also:town of See also:Sardinia, on the See also:river See also:Thyrsus (Tirso), and a station on the See also:Roman road through the centre of the See also:island from See also:Carales to See also:Olbia and Turris Libisonis.

Many of its ruins have been destroyed since 186o. The best preserved are the See also:

baths, erected over hot See also:mineral springs. The tanks for See also:collecting the See also:water and the large central See also:piscina are noteworthy. The See also:bridge over the Tirso has been to some extent modernized. On the opposite bank are the scanty remains of an See also:amphitheatre. Not far off is a See also:group of nuraghi, of which that of St See also:Barbara in the ccmmune of See also:Villanova Truschedda is one of the finest.
