GAWLER , a See also:

town of Gawler See also:county,. See also:South See also:Australia, on the See also:Para See also:river, 24; M. by See also:rail N.E. of See also:Adelaide. It is one of the most thriving places in the See also:colony, being the centre of a large See also:wheat-growing See also:district; it has also See also:engineering See also:works, foundries, See also:flour-See also:mills, breweries and saw-mills, while See also:gold, See also:silver, See also:copper and See also:lead are found in the neighbouring hills. The inhabitants of the town and its extensive suburbs number about 700o; though the See also:population of the town itself in 1901 was 1996.
