He studied at Prague and at See also:Olmutz, and, after travelling extensively in See also:search of See also:historical material, became See also:professor of See also:history at the university of Prague and archivist for Bohemia in 1862. He died at Prague on the 24th of See also:October 1892. Gindely's See also:chief See also:work is his Geschichte See also:des dreissigjahrigen Kriegas (Prague, 1869-188o), which has been translated into See also:English (New See also:York, 1884); and his historical work is mainly concerned with the See also:period of the See also:Thirty Years' See also:War. Perhaps the most important of his numerous other See also:works are: Geschichte der bohmischen Bruder (Prague, 18S7–1858); See also:Rudolf II. and See also:seine Zeit (1862-1868), and a See also:criticism of See also:Wallenstein, Waldstein wahrend seines ersten Generalats (1886). He wrote a history of See also:Bethlen Gabor in Hungarian, and edited the Monumenta historiae Bohemica. Gindely's See also:posthumous work, Geschichte der Gegenreformation in Bohmen, was edited by T.
