GOLDS , a Mongolo-Tatar See also:

people, living on the See also:Lower See also:Amur in See also:south-eastern See also:Siberia. Their See also:chief settlements are on the right See also:bank of the Amur and along the Sungari and Usuri See also:rivers. In physique they are typically Mongolic. Like the See also:Chinese they See also:wear a pigtail, and from them, too, have learnt the See also:art of See also:silk See also:embroidery. The Golds live almost entirely on See also:fish, and are excellent boatmen. They keep large herds of See also:swine and See also:dogs, which live, like themselves, on fish. Geese, See also:wild See also:duck, eagles, bears, wolves and foxes are also kept in menageries. There is much reverence paid to the eagles, and hence the Manchus See also:call the Golds " Eaglets." Their See also:religion is See also:Shamanism. See L.
