The See also:legend is that See also:India See also:fell to St Thomas, who showed unwillingness to start until See also:Christ appeared in a See also:vision and ordered him to serve King Gondophares and build him a See also:palace. St Thomas accordingly went to India and suffered martyrdom there. This legend is not incompatible with what is known of the See also:chronology of Gondophares' reign.
