I-Ie travelled abroad, making drawings from archaeological subjects, and was a See also:pupil of See also:Jan Bol at Mechlin. He was afterwards patronized by the elector of See also:Bavaria at See also:Munich, where he stayed eight years, and by the See also:Emperor See also:Rudolph at See also:Prague. He died at See also:Vienna in 16o1. He is famous for his See also:miniature See also:work, especially on a See also:missal in the imperial library at Vienna; he painted animals and See also:plants to illustrate See also:works on natural See also:history; and his engravings (especially for Braun's Civitates orbis terrarum, 1J72, and See also:Ortelius's Theatrum orbis terrarum, 1570) give him an interesting See also:place among See also:early topographical draughtsmen.
