HOUFFALIZE , a small See also:

town occupying an elevated position (nearly ltoo ft.) in the extreme See also:south-See also:east of the See also:province of See also:Luxemburg, See also:Belgium, much visited during the summer on See also:account of its See also:fine bracing See also:air. There are the ruins of an old See also:castle, and some remains of the still older See also:abbey of Val Ste See also:Catherine. The See also:parish See also:church See also:dates from the 13th or 14tfr See also:century. It contains two old See also:black See also:marble tombs to See also:Thierry of Houffalize and See also:Henri his son, the latter killed at Woeringen in 1288. Houffalize is on the eastern Ourthe, and is connected by a See also:steam See also:tramway with Bourcy on the See also:line from Libramont to Bastogne, See also:Spa and See also:Liege. Pop. (1904) 1486.
