KALABAGH , a See also:

town of See also:British See also:India in the See also:Mianwali See also:district of the See also:Punjab. Pop. (1901), 5824. It is picturesquely situated at the See also:foot of the See also:Salt range, on the right See also:bank of the See also:Indus, opposite the railway station of Mari. The houses nestle against the See also:side of a precipitous See also:hill of solid See also:rock-salt, piled in successive tiers, the roof of each tier forming the See also:street which passes in front of the See also:row immediately above, and a cliff, also of pure rock-salt, towers above the town. The See also:supply of salt, which is worked from open quarries, is practically inexhaustible. See also:Alum also occurs in the neighbouring hills, and forms a considerable See also:item of See also:local See also:trade. See also:Iron implements are manufactured.
