KAMYSHIN , a See also:

town of See also:Russia, in the See also:government of See also:Saratov, 145 M. by See also:river S.S.W. of the See also:city of Saratov, on the right See also:bank of the See also:Volga. Pop. (1861), 8644; (1897), 15,934. Being the See also:terminus of the railway to See also:Tambov, See also:Moscow and the Baltic ports, it is an important See also:port for the export of cereals and See also:salt from the Volga, and it imports See also:timber and wooden wares. It is famous for its See also:water-melons. See also:Peter the See also:Great built here a fort, which was known at first as Dmitrievsk, but acquired its See also:present name in 1780.
