LACY, See also:MICHAEL ROPHINO (1795–1867) , Irish musician, son of a See also:merchant, was See also:born at See also:Bilbao and appeared there in public as a violinist in 18or. He was sent to study in See also:Paris under See also:Kreutzer, and soon began a successful career, being known as " Le See also:Petit Espagnol." He played in See also:London for some years after 18o5, and then became an actor, but in 1818 resumed the musical profession, and in 1820 became See also:leader of the See also:ballet at the See also:King's See also:theatre, London. He composed or adapted from other composers a number of operas and an See also:oratorio, The Israelites in See also:Egypt. He died in London on the loth of See also:September 1867.
