LASAULX, See also:ARNOLD CONSTANTIN See also:PETER See also:FRANZ VON (1839—1886) , See also:German mineralogist and petrographer, was See also:born at Castellaun near See also:Coblenz on the 14th of See also:June 1839. He was educated at See also:Berlin, where he took his Ph. D. in 1868. In 1875 he became See also:professor of See also:mineralogy at See also:Breslau, and in 188o professor of mineralogy and See also:geology at See also:Bonn. He was distinguished for his researches on minerals and on See also:crystallography, and he was one of the earlier workers on microscopic petrography. He described in 1878 the eruptive rocks of the See also:district of See also:Saar and Moselle. In 188o he edited Der Aetna from the See also:MSS. of Dr W. Sartorius von See also:Waltershausen, the results of observations made between the years 1834—1869. He was author of Elemente der Petrographie (1875), Einfiihrung in See also:die Gesteinslehre (1885), and Precis de petrographie (1887). He died at Bonn on the 25th of See also:January 1886.
