LICHTENBERG , formerly a small See also:

German principality on the See also:west See also:bank of the See also:Rhine, enclosed by the See also:Nahe, the Blies and the Glan, now belonging to the See also:government See also:district of See also:Trier, Prussian Rhine See also:province. The principality was constructed of parts of the electorate of Trier, of See also:Nassau-Saarbriicken and other districts, and See also:lay between Rhenish See also:Bavaria and the old Prussian province of the Rhine. Originally called the lordship of Baum-holder, it owed the name of Lichtenberg and its See also:elevation in 1819 to a principality to Ernest, See also:duke of See also:Saxe-See also:Coburg, to whom it was ceded by See also:Prussia, in 1816, in accordance with terms agreed upon at the See also:congress of See also:Vienna.
