In 1832 he issued a See also:work entitled Palaeologica, and in course of See also:time he published a See also:series of See also:memoirs on various fossil organic remains: See also:mollusca, See also:crustacea, fishes and higher See also:vertebrata. His more elaborate researches were those on the Carboniferous See also:amphibia, the See also:Permian See also:reptiles, the Triassic amphibia and reptiles, and the reptiles of the Lithographic slates; and the results were embodied in his See also:great work Zur See also:Fauna der Vorwelt (1845-1860), profusely illustrated with plates See also:drawn on See also:stone by the author. He was associated with W. Dunker and K. A. See also:Zittel in the publication of the Palaeontographica, which began in 1851. He was awarded the See also:Wollaston See also:medal by the See also:Geological Society of See also:London in 1858. He died on the 2nd of See also:April 1869.
