NOVELLI, ERMETE (1851- ) , See also:Italian actor and playwright, was See also:born in See also:Lucca on the 5th of See also:March 1851, the son of a prompter. He made his first See also:appearance in 1866, and played See also:character and leading See also:comedy parts in the best companies between 1871 and 1884. By 1885 he had his own See also:company, and made a See also:great success in See also:Paris in 1898 and 1902. He established in See also:Rome in 1900 a new See also:theatre, the Casa di See also:Goldoni, on the lines of the Comedie Francaise. He dramatized See also:Gaboriau's See also:Monsieur Lecoq, and alone or in collaboration wrote several comedies and many monologues.
