NYKJOBING , a seaport of See also:

Denmark, in the amt (See also:county) of Maribo, on the See also:west See also:shore of the See also:island of Falster, 94 M. S.S.W. of See also:Copenhagen by See also:rail. Pop. (1901) 7345. Its See also:church contains a genealogical See also:tree of the See also:Mecklenburg ducal See also:family, with portraits, dating from 1627 or earlier. Here is the See also:house occupied by See also:Peter the See also:Great of See also:Russia in 1716, restored in 1898. A railway runs See also:south to Gjedser (14 m.), from which the See also:sea-passage (29 m.) to Warnemunde links the fastest route between Copenhagen and See also:Berlin. Other towns of the name of NYKJOBING in Denmark are (1) on Limfjord in Thisted amt (pop. 4492); and (2) in See also:Zealand, Holbaek amt (pop. 2000).
