William Reeve, a See also:Suffolk clergyman, was See also:born at See also:Ipswich in 1729. She was an industrious writer, and produced many See also:works in See also:prose and See also:verse, including a See also:history of the Progress of See also:Romance (1785); but her only eminent success was the novel of The Old English See also:Baron (1777), originally published under the See also:title of The See also:Champion of Virtue. In the history of the English novel she stands midway between See also:Walpole and Mrs. See also:Radcliffe. She died at Ipswich on the 3rd of See also:December 1807.
