ROACH (Leuciscus rulilus) , a small See also:fish belonging to the Cyprinid See also:family, the genus Leuciscus having many representatives in See also:Europe, in which the See also:rudd, the See also:chub and the See also:dace are included. It may attain a length of over 12 in., but a roach of 2 lb is an unusually large one. It is See also:good See also:sport for anglers, but is not esteemed for the table. The See also:general See also:colour is silvery, with reddish fins. It does not occur in See also:Ireland.
