SARIPUL, or SIRIFUL , a See also:town and khanate of Afghan See also:Turkestan. The town lies roo m. S.W. of See also:Balkh; estimated pop. 18,000. Two-thirds of the See also:people are Uzbegs and the See also:rest Hazaras. The khanate, which lies between Balkh and See also:Maimana, is one of the " four domains " which were in dispute between See also:Bokhara and See also:Kabul, and were allotted to the Afghans by the Anglo-See also:Russian boundary agreement of 1873.
