SODERHAMN , a seaport of See also:

Sweden, in the See also:district (lan) of Gefleborg, on an inlet of the Gulf of See also:Bothnia, near the mouth of the Ljasne See also:River, 183 in. N. by W. of See also:Stockholm by See also:rail. Pop. (19oo), 11,258. This is one of the See also:principal centres of the See also:timber export See also:trade, having saw-See also:mills, planing-mills and See also:wood-pulp See also:works. There are also ironworks and breweries. Vessels See also:drawing 15 ft. have See also:access to Branthall, where they generally load. The See also:harbour is at the suburb of Stugsund. It is usuallyice-See also:bound for some four months in See also:winter. The See also:town was given municipal privileges by Gustavus See also:Adolphus in 162o, but is See also:modern in See also:appearance, having been rebuilt after fires in 1860 and 1865.
