TEATE MARRUCINORUM [mod. See also:

Chieti, q.v.] , the See also:chief See also:town of the See also:Marrucini, the whole of whose territory was placed under its municipal See also:jurisdiction by the See also:Romans, after the " Social See also:War." It was thus a town of some importance. Under the See also:church of SS. Pietro e See also:Paolo and the adjoining houses are extensive substructures (in See also:opus reticulatum and See also:brickwork) of the 1st See also:century A.D., belonging to a See also:building erected by M. Vectius See also:Marcellus (probably mentioned by See also:Pliny, H.N., IL 199) and Helvidia Priscilla. There are also remains of large reservoirs and of a See also:theatre.
