It was the See also:capital of the amirate of See also:Aidin in the 14th See also:century, and is described by See also:Ibn Batuta as a See also:fine See also:city with streams and gardens. Pop. over 14,000, the larger See also:half Moslems. It is connected with See also:Smyrna by a See also:branch of the Aidin railway, and has a See also:trade in raisins, See also:wheat, See also:rice, See also:tobacco and See also:cotton.
