TORREVIEJA , a seaport of See also:

south-eastern See also:Spain, in the See also:province of See also:Alicante, 3 m. S.W. of Cape See also:Cervera, and at the See also:terminus of a railway to Albatera on the Alicante-See also:Murcia See also:line. Pop. (1900), 9706. The See also:district is famous for its See also:salt beds, which are owned and worked by the See also:state, the See also:Laguna Grande alone yielding more than 1oo,000 tons a See also:year. The other See also:industries are chiefly fishing, See also:shipbuilding and the manufacture of See also:ropes and sails. The roadstead affords safe anchorage. There is an active See also:trade in See also:fruit and agricultural products.
