town of See also:Germany, in the Prussian See also:province of See also:Westphalia, 15 M. by See also:rail E. of See also:Dortmund, on the See also:line to See also:Hamm. Pop. (1905) 16,324. It has two See also:Roman See also:Catholic and two See also:Protestant churches, a See also:synagogue and several See also:schools. Its See also:chief See also:industries are See also:iron foundries, See also:machine shops, See also:salt See also:works and breweries—other articles of manufacture being bricks and See also:cement. In the See also:middle ages Unna formed See also:part of the electorate of See also:Cologne. It received municipal rights in 1256 and was a member of the Hanseatic See also:League.
