VEXIO , or WEx16, a See also:

town and See also:bishop's see of See also:Sweden, See also:capital of the See also:district (tan) of Kronoberg, 124 M. N.E. of See also:Malmo by See also:rail. Pop. (1900) 7365. It is pleasantly situated among See also:low wooded hills at the See also:north end of See also:Lake Vexio, and near the See also:south end of Lake 1•Ielga. Its See also:appearance is See also:modern, for it was burnt in 1843. The See also:cathedral of St Siegfrid See also:dates from about 1300, but has been restored, the last See also:time in 1898. The Smalar_d Museum has antiquarian and numismatic collections, a library and a bust of See also:Linnaeus. There are See also:iron foundries, a match factory, &c. At Ostrabo, the episcopal See also:residence without the town, the poet Esaias See also:Tegner died in 1846, and he is buried in the town See also:cemetery. On the See also:shore of Lake Helga is the royal See also:estate of Kronoberg, and on an See also:island in the lake the ruins of a former See also:castle of the same name.
