BAJZA, See also:JOSEPH (1804-1858) , Hungarian poet and critic, was See also:born at Sziicsi in 1804. His earliest contributions were made to See also:Kisfaludy's See also:Aurora, a See also:literary See also:paper of which he was editor from 183o to 1837. He also wrote largely in the Kritische Blatter, the See also:Athenaeum, and the Figyelmezo or Observer. His criticisms on dramatic See also:art were considered the best of these See also:miscellaneous writings. In 183o he published See also:translations of some See also:foreign dramas, Auslandische Buhna, and in 1835 a collection of his own poems. In 1837 he was made director of the newly established See also:national See also:theatre at Pest. He then, for some years, devoted himself to See also:historical See also:writing, and published in See also:succession the Historical Library (Tortereti Konyvt(r), 6 vols., 1843-1845; the See also:Modern See also:Plutarch (Uj Plutarch), 1845-1847 ; and the Universal See also:History (Vildgtoretet), 1847. These See also:works are to some extent translations from See also:German authors. In 1847 Bajza edited the See also:journal of the opposition, Ellenor, at See also:Leipzig, and in See also:March 1848 See also:Kossuth made him editor of his paper, Kossuth Hirlapja. In 185o he was attacked with See also:brain disease and died in 1858.
