city and the See also:county seat of See also:Wexford county, See also:Michigan, U.S.A., on See also:Lake Cadillac, about 95 M. N. by E. of See also:Grand Rapids and about 85 m. N.W. of See also:Bay City. Pop. (1890) 4461; (1900) 5997, of whom 1676 were See also:foreign-See also:born; (1904) 6893; (1910) 8375. It is served by the See also:Ann Arbor and the Grand Rapids & See also:Indiana See also:railways. Cadillac overlooks picturesque lake scenery, and the See also:good fishing for See also:pike, pickerel and See also:perch in the lake, and for See also:brook See also:trout in streams near by, attracts many visitors. Among the city's See also:chief manufactures are hardwood See also:lumber, See also:iron, tables, See also:crates and woodenware, See also:veneer, flooring and See also:flour. Cadillac was settled in 1871, was incorporated as a See also:village under the name of Clam Lake in 1875, was chartered as a city under its See also:present name (from See also:Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac) in 1877, and was rechartered in 1895.
