CALBE, or KALBE , a See also:town of See also:Germany, on the See also:Saale, in Prussian See also:Saxony. It is known as Calbe-an-der-Saale, to distinguish it from the smaller town of Calbe on the Milde in the same See also:province. Pop. (1905) 12,281. It is a railway junction, and among its See also:industries are See also:wool-See also:weaving and the manufacture of See also:cloth, See also:paper, stoves, See also:sugar and bricks. Cucumbers and onions are cultivated, and soft See also:coal is See also:mined in the neighbourhood.
