CIUDAD DE CURA , an inland. See also:town of the See also:state of See also:Aragua, See also:Venezuela, 55 M. S.W. of See also:Caracas, near the Lago de See also:Valencia. Pop. (1891) 12,198. The town stands in a broad, fertile valley, between the See also:sources of streams See also:running southward to the See also:Guarico See also:river and northward to the See also:lake, with an See also:elevation above See also:sea-level of 1598 ft. See also:Traffic between Puerto Cabello and the Guarico plains has passed through this town since See also:early colonial times, and has made it an important commercial centre, from which hides, See also:cheese, See also:coffee, cacao and beans are sent down to the See also:coast for export; it bears a high reputation in Venezuela for commercial enterprise. Ciudad de Cura was founded in 1730, and suffered severely in the See also:war of See also:independence.
