CONFOLENS , a See also:

town of See also:south-western See also:France, See also:capital of an See also:arrondissement in the See also:department of See also:Charente, 44 M. N.E. of See also:Angouleme by See also:rail. Pop. (1906) 2546. Confolens is situated on the See also:banks of the See also:Vienne at its confluence with the Goire. It is an See also:ancient town, with steep narrow streets bordered by old houses. It possesses two See also:bridges of the 15th See also:century, remains of a See also:castle of the 12th century, and two churches, one of the 11th, another of the 14th and 15th centuries. The subprefecture,a tribunal of first instance, and a communal See also:college are among the public institutions. See also:Flour, See also:leather, laces and See also:paper are its See also:industrial products, and there is See also:trade in See also:timber and See also:cattle.
