DAYLESFORD , a See also:

It lies on the flank of the See also:Great Dividing Range, at an See also:elevation of 2030 ft. On See also:Wombat See also:Hill are beautiful public gardens commanding extensive views, and a See also:fine See also:convent of the Presentation See also:Order. Much See also:wheat is grown in the See also:district, and See also:gold-See also:mining, both See also:quartz and alluvial, is carried on. Daylesford has an important mining school. Near the town are the See also:Hepburn See also:mineral springs and a number of beautiful waterfalls, and 6 m. from it is See also:Mount See also:Franklin, an See also:extinct See also:volcano.
