island of See also:Germany, belonging to the Prussian See also:province of See also:Schleswig-See also:Holstein, in the Baltic, separated from the See also:north-See also:east corner of Holstein by a strait known as the Fehmarn-Sund, less than a See also:quarter of a mile in breadth. It is a gently undulating See also:tract of See also:country, about 120 sq. m. in See also:area, See also:bare of See also:forest but containing excellent pasture-See also:land, and rears See also:cattle in considerable See also:numbers. Pop. 10,000.
