FRANCIS I ., See also:prince of Transylvania (1645-1676), was the only son of See also:George Rakbczy II. and See also:Sophia See also:Bathory. He was elected prince of Transylvania during his See also:father's lifetime (Feb. 18, 1652), but lost both See also:crown and father at the same See also:time, and withdrew to the See also:family estates, where, at Patak and Makovica, he kept a splendid See also:court. His See also:mother converted him to Catholicism, and on the 1st of See also:March 1666 he married See also:Helen See also:Zrinyi. In 1670 he was implicated in the Zrinyi-Frangepan See also:conspiracy, and only saved his See also:life by the interposition of the See also:Jesuits on the See also:payment of an enormous See also:ransom. See See also:Sandor Szilagyi, The Rdkoczy Family in the 17th See also:Century (Hung.) (Pest, 1861).
