FREIENWALDE , a See also:

town of See also:Germany, in the See also:kingdom of See also:Prussia, on the See also:Oder, 28 m. N.E. of See also:Berlin, on the See also:Frankfort-Angermtinde railway. Pop. (1905) 7995. It has a small See also:palace, built by the See also:Great Elector, an Evangelical and a See also:Roman See also:Catholic See also:church, and manufactures of See also:furniture, machinery, &c. The neighbouring forests and its medicinal springs make it a favourite summer resort of the inhabitants of Berlin. A new See also:tower commands a See also:fine view of the Oderbruch (see ODER). Freienwalde, which must be distinguished from the smaller town of the same name in See also:Pomerania, first appears as a town in 1364.
