GELADA , the Abyssinian name of a large See also:

species of See also:baboon, differing from the members of the genus Papio (see BABOON) by the nostrils being situated some distance above the extremity of the muzzle, and hence made the type of a See also:separate genus, under the name of Theropithecus gelada. In the heavy See also:mantle of See also:long See also:brown See also:hair covering the fore-quarters of the old See also:males, 1 See also:Aeschylus died there in 456 inc.with the exception of the See also:bare See also:chest, which is reddish flesh-See also:colour, the gelada recalls the Arabian baboon (Papio hamadryas), and from this See also:common feature it has been proposed to See also:place the two species in the same genus.
