GOODWOOD , a See also:

mansion in the See also:parish of Boxgrove, in the See also:Chichester See also:parliamentary See also:division of See also:Sussex, See also:England, 4 M. N.E. of Chichester. It was built from designs of See also:Sir See also:William See also:Chambers with additions by See also:Wyatt, after the See also:purchase of the See also:property by the first See also:duke of See also:Richmond in 1720. The See also:park is in a hilly See also:district, and is enriched with magnificent trees of many varieties, including some huge cedars. In it is a See also:building containing a See also:Roman slab recording the construction of a See also:temple to See also:Minerva and See also:Neptune at Chichester. There is mention of a See also:British tributary See also:prince named Cogidubnus, who perhaps served also as a Roman See also:official. A reference to See also:early See also:Christianity in See also:Britain has been erroneously read into this inscription. On the racecourse a famous See also:annual See also:meeting, dating from 1802, is held in See also:July. The parish See also:church of SS. See also:Mary and Blaize, Boxgrove, is almost entirely a See also:rich specimen of Early See also:English See also:work.
