HELLWN , a See also:

town of See also:south-eastern See also:Spain, in the See also:province of See also:Albacete, on the Albacete-See also:Murcia railway. Pop. (1900), 12,558. Hellfn is built on the outskirts of the See also:low hills which See also:line the See also:left See also:bank of the See also:river Mundo. It possesses the remains of an old See also:Roman See also:castle and a beautiful See also:parish See also:church, the See also:masonry and See also:marble See also:pavement at the entrance of which are worthy of See also:special See also:notice. The surrounding See also:country yields See also:wine, oil and See also:saffron in abundance; within the town there are manufactures of coarse See also:cloth, See also:leather and pottery. See also:Sulphur is obtained from the celebrated See also:mining See also:district of See also:Minas del Mundo, 12 m. S., at the junction between the Mundo and the See also:Segura; and there are warm sulphurous springs in the neighbouring See also:village of Azaraque. Hellfn was known to the See also:Romans who first exploited its sulphur as Illunum.
