The arms, set through the sound-board at points distant about the third of the See also:diameter from the circumference, have the See also:familiar See also:fan shape. Five gut strings, knotted round the See also:bar and raised from the sound-board by means of a See also:bridge tailpiece similar to that in use on the See also:modern See also:guitar, are plucked by means of a plectrum by the right See also:hand for the See also:melody, while the See also:left hand sometimes twangs some of the strings as a soft See also:drone See also:accompaniment.
