KOHAT PASS , a See also:mountain pass in the See also:North-See also:West Frontier See also:Province of See also:India, connecting Kohat with See also:Peshawar. Fromthe north See also:side the See also:defile commences at 41 m. S.W. of Fort Mackeson, whence it is about 12 or 13 M. to the Kohat entrance. The pass varies from 400 yds. to I4 m. in width, and its See also:summit is some 60o to 700 ft. above the See also:plain. It is inhabited by the See also:Adam Khel Afridis, and nearly all See also:British relations with that tribe have been concerned with this pass, which is the only connexion between two British districts without See also:crossing and recrossing the See also:Indus (see AFRini). It is now traversed by a See also:cart-road.
