LENNEP , a See also:

town of See also:Germany, in the Prussian See also:Rhine See also:province, 18 m. E. of See also:Dusseldorf, and 9 m. S. of See also:Barmen by See also:rail, at a height of loon ft. above the level of the See also:sea. Pop. (1905) 10,323. It lies in the See also:heart of one of the busiest See also:industrial districts in Germany, and carries on important manufactures of the finer kinds of See also:cloth, See also:wool, See also:yarn and See also:felt, and also of See also:iron and See also:steel goods. It has an Evangelical and a See also:Protestant See also:church, a See also:modern school and a well-equipped See also:hospital. Lennep, which was the See also:residence of the See also:counts of See also:Berg from 1226 to 1300, owes the See also:foundation of its prosperity to an influx of See also:Cologne weavers during the 14th See also:century.
