The county See also:gaol, See also:court See also:house and infirmary are here, but the town is practically a suburb of See also:Strabane, across the See also:river, in Co. See also:Londonderry. Lifford, formerly called Ballyduff, was a See also:chief stronghold of the O'Donnells of See also:Tyrconnell. It was incorporated as a See also:borough (under the name of Liffer) in the reign of See also:James I. It returned two members to the Irish See also:parliament until the See also:union in 'Soo.
