MOUNTMELLICK , a See also:

market See also:town of See also:Queen's See also:county, See also:Ireland, pleasantly situated on the Owenass (an affluent of the See also:Barrow) which nearly encircles it. Pop. (19o1), 2407. It is the See also:terminus of a See also:branch of the See also:Great See also:Southern & Western railway, 72 M. N. of See also:Maryborough and 582 W.S.W. of See also:Dublin. A branch of the See also:Grand See also:Canal also reaches the town, providing See also:water communication with Dublin, and with See also:Waterford by the See also:river Barrow. There are See also:industries of malting, tanning, woollen and See also:salt manufactures, and See also:iron-See also:founding. A See also:settlement of See also:Quakers has contributed largely to the prosperity of the town. A provincial school of the See also:Leinster Society of See also:Friends was founded here in 1796.
