ONTENIENTE , a See also:

town of eastern See also:Spain, in the See also:province of See also:Valencia; on the right See also:bank of the Clariano or Onteniente, a sub-tributary of the JCicar, and on the See also:Jativa-See also:Villena railway. Pop. (1900) 11,430. Onteniente has a See also:parish See also:church remarkable for its lofty square See also:tower, and a See also:palace of the See also:dukes of Almodovar. There is a large See also:modern suburb outside the old town, which was formerly a walled See also:city; some vestiges of the ramparts still remain. See also:Linen and woollen See also:cloth, See also:paper, See also:brandy, See also:furniture and earthenware are manufactured; and there is some See also:trade in cereals, See also:wine and oil.
