RUPPIN , or Neuruppin, a See also:

town of See also:Germany, in the Prussian See also:province of See also:Brandenburg, lies on the W. See also:bank of a small See also:lake, the Ruppiner See, 37 M. N.W. of See also:Berlin by See also:rail. Pop. (1905) 18,555• The town, which was rebuilt in See also:fine, See also:regular See also:fashion after a destructive See also:fire in 1787, contains three See also:Protestant churches, a See also:Roman See also:Catholic See also:church and various educational and benevolent institutions. Its inhabitants are employed in the manufacture of See also:cloth, See also:starch and machinery, in See also:iron-See also:founding and See also:lithography. Important See also:cattle and See also:horse fairs are held here. • Ruppin received municipal rights in 1256. The small town of Altruppin, lying at the See also:north end of the lake, has a 15th-See also:century church and some small manufactures. Pop. (1905) 1813.
