VARALLO SESIA , a See also:

town of See also:Piedmont, See also:Italy, in the See also:province of See also:Novara, from which it is 34 M. N.N.W. by See also:rail, situated in the valley of the Sesia, 1480 ft. above See also:sea-level. Pop. (1901) 3330 (town); 4265 (See also:commune). The churches of S Gaudenzio, S Maria delle Grazie and S Maria di See also:Loreto, all contain See also:works by Gaudenzio See also:Ferrari (1471-1546), who was See also:born in the neighbouring Val Duggia, while the Sacro See also:Monte, a See also:place of See also:pilgrimage rising above the town (1995 ft.), is approached by a path leading past See also:forty-five chapels containing See also:groups of See also:life-See also:size painted terra-See also:cotta figures representing scenes from sacred See also:history, with backgrounds in See also:fresco (by Ferrari and others), to the pilgrimage See also:church built by Pellegrino Tibaldi after 1578.
