In '87o he joined the See also:staff of the See also:Geological Survey of See also:India, and was appointed palaeontologist in 1874, but was obliged to retire through See also:ill-See also:health in '875. He published important monographs in the Palaeontologia Indicts on the palaeontology of See also:Cutch (1873–'876) and the See also:Salt Range (1879–1883), dealing in the last-named wort: -vith fossils from the See also:Lower See also:Cambrian to the Trias. In 1879 he was appointed See also:professor of See also:mineralogy and See also:geology in the German technical high school at See also:Prague, and he became a contributor to the continuation of See also:Barrande's See also:great See also:work on the SystEme Silurien de Bohe"me. In 1890 he became professor of palaeontology at the university of See also:Vienna, and in '898 the See also:Lyell See also:medal was awarded to him by the Geological Society of See also:London.
