N. of See also:Lahore. Pop. (1901) 18,069. It is an important railway junction. The See also:main See also:line of the See also:North-Western railway here crosses the Chenab by the Alexandra See also:bridge, opened by the See also:prince of See also:Wales in 1876. The See also:branch to See also:Sialkot has been ex-tended to See also:Jammu (51 m.); another branch follows the line of the Chenab See also:canal towards See also:Multan. See also:Boat-See also:building and manufactures of See also:steel and See also:iron are carried on.
