town of See also:Austria, in Upper Austria, 17 M. S.S.W. of See also:Linz by See also:rail. Pop. (1900) 12,187. It is situated on the See also:river See also:Traun and possesses an interesting See also:parish See also:church, in See also:Gothic See also:style, rebuilt in the 15th See also:century, but the See also:oldest See also:part supposed to date from the 9th century. The town draws a See also:supply of natural See also:gas, used for See also:lighting, See also:heat and See also:motive See also:power, from deep artesian borings first made in 1891. It has an important See also:trade in See also:corn, See also:timber, horned See also:cattle, pigs and horses, fowls, See also:dairy produce and See also:lard; and considerable manufactures, including machinery, See also:cast-See also:iron, See also:copper and See also:brass goods, See also:calico, See also:gunpowder, oil, See also:paper, articles in See also:felt, See also:flour, See also:leather and biscuits.
